Palm Health Foundation is pleased to introduce the Better Brain Health Blog, an effort to further the conversation around brain health in Palm Beach County and include a variety of voices in doing so. This blog will feature monthly posts written by local experts around various brain health topics, from advancements in neuroscience to the latest in mental health news and awareness, all relating to our community.
In the 21st century, there has been an explosion of research and scientific discoveries about the brain. The more we learn about it, the more we understand just how dependent our health is on this amazing, complex organ. Palm Beach County is at the forefront of this learning, serving as home to the world renowned research centers of Scripps, Max Plank and the FAU Brain Institute. In 2019, there will be a permanent $2 million exhibit on the brain at the South Florida Science Center. These developments are timely, as multiple assessments have consistently shown that mental and behavioral health are the top priority among unmet needs in our county.
In 2017, Palm Health Foundation announced our commitment to placing brain health at the forefront of our work in bettering Palm Beach County health by launching the $1 million Better Brain Health fundraising campaign. At the same time, the foundation established the Brain Health Advisory Council, a group of national and local experts on brain health who inform our funding decisions, explore new technologies and treatments, recommend resources and educational tools and advocate for those with mental health conditions.
This blog will feature original content written by our esteemed Brain Health Advisory Council members. Each post will be written to educate and inform on brain health advancements, including innovations in research and practical information that readers can apply to their daily lives as they strive for better brain health.
Keep your eyes peeled and brains ready to expand with all of the knowledge to come! Make sure you don’t miss a post by subscribing to Palm Health Foundation’s newsletter and following the foundation on Facebook and Twitter.
